Camba Capital

Pension elections · Retirement transitions · Long Island

A Long Island planning practice. Being built for the families who built their pensions.

Pension decisions are permanent. Lump sum versus annuity. Single life versus joint-and-survivor. When to start. How it all fits with Social Security and the 401(k). When open, Camba will walk every scenario with the math on the table. For teachers, cops, firefighters, nurses, and the MTA, LIRR, and hospital-system families behind the pensions. Camba Capital is in pre-launch. Founder Dan Zimon is completing Investment Adviser Representative registration under an established advisory firm. Fee-only by design. No commissions, in any direction.

What to expect on the call:

• A quick read on your current situation • Plain answers to your biggest questions • Clear next steps based on what your household actually needs

No pressure, no commitment. Just a straightforward conversation.

The pension decision

The same pension, two different lives.

Steady.Monthly annuity, for lifeGrowing.Lump sum, investedTODAY20 YEARS

A steady monthly check for life, or a lump sum invested and compounded. Both paths can land you in a comfortable retirement. Which one is right depends on your household, not a rule of thumb.

Illustrative only. Not a forecast or a return projection.

Independence by design

Camba is in pre-launch. Founder Dan Zimon is completing Investment Adviser Representative registration under an established advisory firm. The principle that won't change: client assets are always held by an independent, SIPC-member custodian. Never by Camba. Custodian relationships are being reviewed and will be finalized at onboarding for the household's actual situation.

  • Independent third-party custody
  • SIPC-member institutions only
  • Camba never holds client funds
  • Fee-only, no commissions, no product revenue
  • Form ADV available upon registration

Retirement plan analysis

The pension call is one decision. The plan is thirty years of them.

The retirement analyzer runs a Monte Carlo simulation across the full horizon. Your accounts, your pension, Social Security claim age, and household expenses, and shows the range of outcomes a real plan has to defend against. Pre-registration educational tool. Results are hypothetical and travel with the SEC Marketing Rule 206(4)-1(d) disclosure required for projections like these.

Pension calculator

See the math before you make a permanent decision.

A NYSTRS teacher retiring at 62 with a $4,800 monthly pension faces a lump-sum offer near $900,000. Whether to take it depends on your spouse's income, your health, and what the money does invested. Run the numbers for your household.

Monthly annuity$4,800 / mo for life
Lump sum offer~$900,000

Numbers are illustrative. Your election depends on your household. Run the calculator for your actual situation.

How Camba works

Pension-first planning. The portfolio supports the plan, not the other way around.

Most retirement planning treats the pension as a rounding error on the 401(k). Camba inverts that. The pension, together with Social Security, is the income floor, modeled first, gross and net of WEP and GPO, with survivor elections layered in. Only then is the investable portfolio sized and positioned to fill the gap, absorb the market shocks the pension can't, and create the flexibility a pension alone can't give you.

01

Pension elections. The decision that's permanent.

Lump sum versus annuity. Single life versus joint-and-survivor. When to start. How it all fits with Social Security, the 403(b), and a spouse's income. When open, Camba will walk every scenario with the math on the table. No product pitch at the end. Whether it's NYSTRS, NYCTRS, PFRS, ERS, LIRR, or a hospital system pension, the decision is irreversible and the stakes are a lifetime of income.

401(k), 403(b), and 457 rollovers.

Leaving a district, transferring to a new hospital system, retiring from the force, or cleaning up a stack of old employer plans. When open, Camba will walk every option under the fiduciary duty Series 66 establishes, with tax-aware implementation as the default, not an upgrade, and assets held by an independent SIPC-member custodian, never by Camba.

The network behind the firm

For the questions that sit outside investment advice.

Camba Capital is not a CPA, an estate attorney, or an insurance broker, and the firm refuses to pretend otherwise. Instead, the firm coordinates with a vetted network of Long Island professionals so every household decision has the right specialist behind it. No referral fees. No revenue sharing. No commissions of any kind change hands.

Tax

CPAs and tax-aware coordination.

Coordination on multi-year Roth conversion ladders, capital-gains harvesting, RMD timing, and household-level tax-bracket management. Implemented with the household's existing CPA or, if there is no CPA in place, with a vetted Long Island specialist. For households with complex or concentrated positions, an independent tax specialist is brought into the planning conversation.

Estate

Trust and estates attorneys.

Referrals to local trust and estates counsel for wills, revocable trusts, healthcare proxies, and beneficiary reviews. Camba sits in on the working sessions to keep the investment side, the tax side, and the legal side moving in the same direction.

Insurance

Long-term care, life, and disability.

Independent review of existing policies and referrals to fee-only or low-load specialists for new coverage. Camba refuses to be the firm that tells a household it does not need long-term-care coverage just because the firm cannot sell it. The analysis is run on its own merits.

Real estate

Counsel, closings, and downsizing.

Referrals to LI real estate attorneys for downsizing, co-op transfers, and 1031 exchanges. The NY Real Estate license is held in-house, so the firm understands the dynamics of every closing the household is sitting across the table from.

Camba comes to you

Kitchen table, your office, or Zoom.

Camba Capital serves Long Island families across Nassau and Suffolk, from Garden City and Mineola in the west, through Hicksville, Plainview, Syosset, and Huntington, out to Smithtown, Commack, Stony Brook, and Port Jefferson. Teachers grading papers at 9pm, cops coming off the midnight shift, nurses between rotations. The meeting fits the schedule, not the other way around. Most clients have never had an adviser come to them. That is how it should work.
